The above times are START of session times so please ensure you arrive early enough to get changed, kitted out and ready to get on the water at the time above.

We have a limited number of SUP’s for use – if you would like to use a SUP please book the session you require and then follow the link to request a SUP.

Please ensure you are kitted out correctly with a change of clothes and suitable footwear – wetsuit shoes or pumps, trainers are too bulky. The weather is getting colder now and the water is cooling down quickly so please ensure you have adequate clothing and a change of clothes. We have a limited number of wetsuits available on a first come basis but can’t guarantee availability.

The café at the river is open 9am – 1pm so if you want a sandwich you can grab a butty before getting on the water.

The cost for borrowing equipment is £10.00 per person for any session but is included in the Taster session cost.

Anyone who has not paddled with the club before MUST complete a taster session before joining regular sessions, this allows us to assess any new members and run over club safety procedure’s etc. Taster sessions MUST be booked on the website at £15 per session

Spring Summer Season

As the weather gets warmer, and the river season comes to an end, we are preparing to recommence our sessions at both Pugneys lake and the River Calder.

This year we plan to pencil in members only sessions on some saturdays for paddles away from our usual locations, suitable to all, in addition to moving water sessions to rivers or man made courses where availiable.

This year we will plan the sessions in the calendar, so all club members can see in advance. Booking will be enabled a week prior to the event date.

Club Trips!

Dont forget, we also have our Wales Weekend and Slenningford weekend trips away

Club Weekend Trip

Hi everyone.

We are looking to have a club weekend in Wales around the Llangollen area this year. We are looking at 28th April to 1st May as this takes in the Monday bank holiday. We are planning on staying here at the Llandyn Campsite in Llangollen.

The plan will is to have a mixed weekend of some white/moving water paddling and also some some flat water/touring and paddleboarding. Locations will be decided nearer the time when we know numbers of paddles / coaches (competent paddlers) weather etc.

The site has vaccines at present but we need to move quickly if people wish to come please drop a message below, so we are aware but people will need to book direct.

If anyone has any questions please drop us a message. Club Kit (including boats) can be borrowed but will need to be transported there by the individual.

Wishing you a Happy New Year 2023!

We hope all members have had a fantastic Christmas break and wish you all a Happy New Year for 2023!

We celebrate new paddlers participating in the sport, newer Paddlers tacking white water for the first time, River trips, cleanups and general sillyness – all with fantastic people. Have a look at some of our key moments throughout this year!

We still have some whitewater kayak trips planned in the diary, however look out for information of our regular trips and taster sessions when the weather get warmer, from around Feb/Mar.

From all the trustees of the club, thank you for a fabulous year!

New Years Day Paddle Postponed

All

Due to high river levels and persistent heavy rain predicted in the area throughout the night, the club coaches and leaders have made the decision not to paddle at slenningford watermill on New Years Day, opting to move our new years paddle to the same location the following week.

We have updated the event page to now paddle on the 7th of January 2023.

We’re sorry for any disappointment caused, but we didnt want to cause wasted trips on the day. Paddler safety is paramount.

New Year Day Paddle – Slenningford Watermill

As per club tradition, on New Years Day paddle we will padleagain this year. We’ll be paddling the River Ure from Mickley to Sleningford Watermill.

More details on the route we’ll be taking are here:

https://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/rivers/england/north-east/river-ure-hack-falls-to-west-tanfield

Conditions will be expectedly very cold, both on and off the water, so it is imperative you are dressed appropriately for the environment. A proper wetsuit and CAG Jacket or dry suit with underlayers will be required.

We are monitoring the river levels very closely, however at the minim required levels the trip will not be suitable to beginners to moving water. At higher levels, the club will make a decision on individual competency.

Please note: There is a £6 charge per paddler paid to the site on arrival (for parking and maintenance of the river at the campsite). Payment by cash only, as the office is closed on the day we are paddling.

Please book online (below) to confirm your attendance.
