This is a dedicated pool training session where you can safely practice and refine your paddleboarding skills in a warm, controlled environment.
This session is perfect for:
- Building Confidence: Get comfortable falling off and remounting your board without the fear of cold water or currents.
- Improving Core Skills: Practice your balance, efficient paddling technique, and quick turns (like the pivot turn).
- Water Safety: Learn and practice essential remounting techniques and self-rescue skills.
Skills Focus
We will run sessions targeting particular skills to help you progress. Example sessions include:
- Balance & Footwork: Focus on finding your sweet spot, moving your feet, and performing step-back (pivot) turns.
- Board Recovery & Remounting: Learn and practice different techniques for getting back onto your board efficiently after a fall—an essential safety skill!
- Advanced Turns & Tricks: Once comfortable, try advanced moves like the 'tombstone' and paddle spins.
Pool Rules & Safety
Due to space constraints, there may be a cap on the number of boards allowed in the pool.
- Helmets: All paddleboarders must wear a helmet while on the board.
- Distance from Edges: Only attempt to stand on your board when you are at least a board's length away from the pool edges.
- Using Your Own Board: Your own paddleboard is welcome, but it must be cleaned, sprayed, and inspected before being allowed into the pool. Dirty equipment will not be permitted.
⏰ Session Timing
Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start time.
Arriving early is essential as it allows us and the leisure centre staff enough time to sanitise and inspect all equipment before it enters the pool. By arriving 15 minutes early, we can start the session on time, ensuring you get the full hour of paddling!
