WASHBURN WEEKEND 2017

It’s that time of year again when our annual Washburn rafting event comes around.

For those of you who are not aware what the Washburn is it is a small stream between 2 reservoirs, during our weekend we pay Yorkshire Water to open the valve on the top reservoir releasing millions of gallons of clean water into the stream transforming it into a grade 2/3 whitewater river.

Kayaking is free to club members during the weekend providing they can help out for a couple of hours with the event, car parking, catering etc.

As the river will be grade 2/3 it is NOT possible for novice paddlers to participate – the final decision will be with the event organisers on the day.

We will however have a club raft available during the weekend that club members can have a run in again as long as they can lend a hand during the event, the raft will be suitable for most members and children but again the final decision will be down to the raft guide.

The Washburn information poster is available for download below, please try to circulate the poster as we need to drum up interest in the event in order to cover the costs of the water release.
