Events for this weekend have been added to the calendar.
This week we are running afternoon sessions at Pugneys. The river is way too high at the moment and more rain forecast overnight. There is a chance the river will drop enough to run a session on Saturday but we will not know this until Saturday morning.
Sessions are being run but with limited numbers per session. To assist with social distancing measures, we will be running small sessions of no more than 5 people plus leader (in line with guidance from British Canoeing).
Afternoon Pugneys sessions:
Session three: 1.15 – 3.15pm
Session four: 1.30 – 3.30pm
Changing rooms within the main building are not presently available, so please arrive at the session prepared as best as possible and be prepared to change at your car / outside. For current up-to-date information about current amenities at Pugneys, see the page below:
https://www.wakefield.gov.uk/sport-health-and-leisure/leisure-centres-and-facilities/pugneys-country-park It is NOT possible to change in our container or leave any belongings inside. Also please remember anyone – paddlers or spectators are NOT allowed past the wooden fence without a buoyancy aid – sorry there are no exceptions to this rule.
Depending on the wishes of the group and the weather, we can either paddle around the lake or stay in the sheltered area.
Costs for borrowing equipment are £6.00 for the river sessions and £8.00 per person at Pugneys, slight difference in cost due to a charge the club have to pay to Pugneys for each paddler on the lake.
