Saturday 24th February – River Tees

Saturday 24th February – River Tees, Cotherstone to Barnard Castle
This trip is suitable for beginner paddlers and upwards. The trip offers the opportunity to paddle in the country on a cleaner river than some of our local rivers.
See link for info on UK rivers guidebook river-tees-middleton-in-teesdale-to-barnard-castle . The paddle starts from where the River Balder meets the Tees at Cotherstone.
If paddlers and parents/guardians of under 18’s are unsure please talk with a club coach, Andy Walker, Kevin Jackson, Ian Johnson or John Turner at club sessions. Alternatively the organisers Mark Wilbond & Richard Cooke will be happy to help and advise.
It is important that you have the correct kit as its likely to be very low temperatures on the day. The club has boats, paddles and paddling gear available to borrow. Please note, wetsuits and wet boots are very limited and we would recommend supplying your own. Please let the organisers know in good time if want to borrow anything and don’t leave it until the last minute.
Meet at Scotch Corner Butty Bar, just off the A1 on the A66 at 9.45am.
Please email, text message or Facebook message Mark Wilbond or Richard Cooke by Thursday 22nd February if you are wanting to paddle.

Its is important to let the organisers know you are attending, to inform you of any changes to the trip due to river levels or weather conditions. Safety support from the clubs more experienced paddlers will be most welcome.
Please note the trip is only open to full club members and the final decision about who can paddle will be down to the organisers.
